Kintan BBQ

Whilst settling into my new job I discussed with my colleagues that I run a food blog and one of my friends at work thought as a fellow foodie it’ll be a good idea to go on a dinner date and I couldn’t agree more. She booked a restaurant in Holborn called Kintan. This was my first experience dinning at a Japanese BBQ restaurant and enjoyed literally every bite! I tried new flavours and foods for the first time including octopus *covers face*. Thank you so much Lai-Lam for bringing me here I couldn’t of enjoyed it any more than I did.

For starters we had a variation of wasabi crunchy shrimp, to octopus dumpling (so yummy), vegetable spring rolls and fresh sesame salad.

Be prepared for the main course, it be almost impossible to list every item we had as it was over 5 courses but i’ll list the menu down and brief description of what I had.

Warning contains epic pictures of fresh quality meat! Two of us scoffed all this down to ourselves, I literally don’t know where we put it, but my buttons on my skirt was about to pop – so worth every minute of chomping it down though. I would defiantly go back and highly recommend it, it’s such a cool spin on BBQ, never experienced anything like it.

Main courses come obviously raw comes already seasoned, once presented on the table your waiter explains what type of meat need cooking the longest, they also talk about which sauces work best for which type of meat and the flavour it gives off some spicy some more salty. We had a mixture of squid, garlic butter beef, spicy chicken, popping peppers to even prawns the list was pretty endless.

Cooking process it roughly around 3-4 minutes on each side of the meat, the slices are so thin you don’t need much BBQ’ing time. Never needed to add salt or pepper to the dishes everything was perfectly seasoned and although an open BBQ looks scary at first (worried if you’ll cook it properly) trust me it is really piss easy to do because it doesn’t take long at all, as I said the slices are so thin.

With good deals throughout the week such as Ladies Night, Student Night & Happy Hour be sure to take advantage on these occasions and also pre-book or stand waiting or drinking at the bar for over an hour waiting time as it is so popular and busy. A wonderful new experience for me, along with great flavours and perfect company I couldn’t complain. If you wish to check out the menu properly and book i’ll list all the details of Kintan below.
